Bowls suck now

I used to take vacation from work on the week between Christmas and New Years to watch (and bet on) the bowls. Now with transfers and opt outs, NIL payouts, they aren't the same. The playoff games will probably still have the team nucleus, but the rest really can't be handicapped.

Yep
  • players opt out for NFL
  • players opt out for transfer portal and NIL money
  • often players sitting out are not revealed until just before kick off
  • head coaches abandon bowl teams for better jobs
  • OCs and DCs abandon teams for other jobs
  • the traditions of the bowls are broken (eg every yr the Rose Bowl Pac 12 vs Big 10)
  • the conferences themselves have been ripped apart (eg SCal, UCLA in the Big 10?)
  • 6-6 teams in weak level bowls are ridiculous
The once great bowl season is a mess, the NCAA is a hopeless, weak, pathetic organization

yep ... and coaches take their best players with 'em when they leave for a new school like Nevada's coach did when he went to CSU and N mex coach did when he went to Vandy ... Not worth it ... mostly unpredictable ...

Another strategy, for many bowls, is to wait until the day before or day of to bet. By then, we have a better idea of who is in and out.

5 bowl games on NYears day.... That was the fun times... lol
It was something to look forward to, like a guy's holiday. My local threw a big party every year with breakfast lunch and dinner buffets. Some people would show up for the 10 am game and not leave until the end of the sugar bowl. I had a group of about 10 friends who would go and it was one of those days you could rely on to see everyone. Now, we text

Hope you have a good upcoming holiday season! That's kind of sad reading your message, where we are with the Bowls and life in general!!

So many years of partying on NYE in Vegas and then dragging our hungover selves to the sportsbook early the next morning.
Those were some great times!
